On Monday, April 20th, Region 7 delegates traveled to the State Capitol to participate in ACSA’s Legislative Action Days. Representing our region were Tom Nipper (Region VPLA), Jared Hungerford (State VPLA), Deb Rowe (Region State Board Member), Kristin Lilly-Porter (Region President), Barbara Magpusao (Retired Charter President), Brandie Brunni (San Joaquin Charter VPLA), and Matthew Hutsell (Stanislaus Charter VPLA).

The first day included advocacy training, a regional team breakout session for preparation, a group reception, and a region dinner. On Tuesday, the team met with legislators and staff to advocate on behalf of students using ACSA’s One Voice Platform. Key priorities included the need for stable and robust school funding, reducing duplicative plans and reporting requirements, and addressing statewide staff shortages.

Region 7 representatives met with offices of Assemblymembers Heath Flora (AD 9), Rhodesia Ransom (AD 13), Juan Alanis (AD 22), and Senators Marie Alvarado-Gil (SD 4) and Jerry McNerney (SD 5).

Thank you to our dedicated delegation for clearly representing the needs of our members through powerful local stories and personal perspectives. We also extend our appreciation to all ACSA members for your continued support and advocacy for our students.
