Region 7 recently held its 2nd General Membership Assembly (GMA) for the year at Dave Wong’s Restaurant in Stockton, offering a valuable opportunity for networking and collaboration. The GMA serves as an essential forum three times annually, bringing together a wide range of participants, including Region Officers, Region Directors, Charter Presidents, the State Board Member, Region Consultant, and ACSA representatives.

This gathering provides an important platform for attendees to engage with region leadership, share insights, and strengthen connections that are crucial for advancing educational initiatives. During the event, participants also had the chance to learn about the work of various councils, committees, and task forces, ensuring that a diverse range of perspectives was represented in the discussions.

A key feature of the February meeting was the opportunity for members to hear from candidates running for region cabinet positions for the 2025/2026 school year. The following candidates were introduced:

  • Ben Howell: Superintendent/Principal from Summerville Elementary School District, running for Region 7 Vice President. Ben is also the Tuolumne Charter President and serves as a representative for the region on the Superintendency Council.
  • Tom Nipper: Director III Health Services at Modesto City Schools, running for Region 7 Vice President, Legislative Action. Tom currently holds the position of Vice President, Legislative Action Representative for the Stanislaus Charter.
  • Araseli Zamora: Business Manager for Waterford Unified School District, running for re-election as Region 7 Treasurer. Araseli is currently serving as the region treasurer, with her term set to conclude at the end of the school year.
  • Deborah Rowe: Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources, in the Sylvan Union School District, running for the State ACSA Board of Directors. Deborah is the Past President for ACSA Region 7 and has held several leadership roles within the region and Stanislaus Charter.

Ballots have been distributed via email, and the voting window is open from February 15 to 28, 2025. Region 7 members are encouraged to participate in the election process to ensure strong leadership for the upcoming term.

Looking ahead, Region 7 is excited to announce its next gathering on April 16th at the Graffiti USA Classic Car Museum in Modesto. This event will offer further opportunities for members and guests to come together in support of educational excellence. The gathering will also include the recognition of student scholarship winners and each charter honoree for the Every Student Succeeding program.

We encourage all members and interested guests to join us as we continue our commitment to fostering educational success and advocacy.
