WE ARE ACSA
In our region, we embody a powerful message – WE ARE ACSA. ACSA offers us a unique opportunity to unite and recognize the invaluable support system that surrounds us in our educational roles. As administrators, our primary duty is to meet the diverse needs of students, staff, and families within our communities, a responsibility that can sometimes feel overwhelming amidst our daily commitments.
Whether we are at school sites, in offices, or in meetings making critical decisions, it’s essential to remember that we are never alone. We can effectively serve our school communities because we have a support system just a phone call or text message away through our ACSA colleagues.
The vision of ACSA is clear: “The Association of California School Administrators is the driving force for an equitable, world-class education system that can meet the diverse needs of all California students.” And, together, we can achieve this monumental task.
PEOPLE: SEEN, HEARD, and VALUED
As educators, our core focus is PEOPLE. Our community relies on us to support and fulfill their educational needs, which are varied and of great significance. Oprah Winfrey, someone we all know who has interviewed countless people, once shared that after every interview, guests would often ask, “Was that okay? Did I do okay?” She interpreted this as them asking, “Can you see me? Can you hear me? Does anything I say mean anything to you?”
Everyone yearns to be SEEN, HEARD, and VALUED in their interactions. This year, I challenge each member to invite an administrative colleague to join our collective WE of ACSA. Together, we strengthen our ability to support others and build a robust network that affirms the importance of being SEEN, HEARD, and VALUED within our communities and among our peers.
Best,
Tami Garcia
