For more than 20 years, Michael has been a steady and compassionate leader, ensuring every child in the district receives a healthy, nutritious meal \u2014 and so much more.<\/p>\n<p>Under his leadership, Sylvan\u2019s Nutrition Services has become a model of innovation and care. Michael introduced department-wide professional learning communities, modernized kitchens, and partnered with students on creative projects, including a new department logo designed by middle school artists. His team also delivers weekly food boxes to families in need and hosts school farmer\u2019s markets to promote healthy eating.<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent Diolinda Peterson shared, \u201cWhen staff reported that students who didn\u2019t have snacks were arriving to school late, Mike worked with his team to find solutions. When hearing of food scarcity and hunger issues in our community, Mike and his team created a food box program, delivering a weekly supply of food for our families and neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Known for leading with heart, humility, and purpose, Michael embodies the spirit of servant leadership.
