On December 8, 2018, REMers finallyh got to the Disney Concert Hall. Designed by Frank Gehry, it has become recognized as one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world. Just being inside this wonderful building was an experience unto itself. We heralded the arrival of the holiday season by attending a matinee concert of favorite carols sung by one of the best choirs on the planet. The 115-member Los Angeles Master Chorale was joined by the Disney Concert Hall’s mighty pipe organ. The program featured many festive, well known and unknown carols sprinkled with new arrangements, as well as a couple of audience sing-a-longs. Did you know that “Angels We Have Heard on High” is a French carol and “Deck the Hall” is Welsh?
At one point during the concert, Santa Claus himself appeared, usurping the regular conductor and seizing the podium where he attempted to conduct the Chorale himeslf before fleeing before the authorities arriving to subdue him.
Someday, you too shall retire. When that time comes, consider joining the charter to which you all aspire, the retired charter, and come with us on our many exciting outings!
